Florida SHOTS is Florida’s centralized, online immunization information system. It is part of the Florida Department of Health and accepts data on all immunizations including flu shots.

Stage 3 Meaningful Use

Capacity Declaration: The Florida Department of Health declares that the statewide immunization information system, Florida SHOTS, is fully capable and ready to accept immunization data and respond to queries based on CDC HL7 version 2.5.1 Implementation Guide for Immunization Messaging, Release 1.5 (October 2014) and Addendum (July 2015) for Stage 3 Meaningful Use (MU) in accordance with the requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services EHR Incentive Program.

Note that Florida’s immunization information system accepts immunization data for all age groups, including adults.

Note: For all other meaningful use questions or requirements, please refer to the Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Programs page.

Healthcare provider personnel who are designated Florida SHOTS "Local Org Administrators" can now register for Meaningful Use Stage 3 within Florida SHOTS. Providers attesting for MU Stage 3 must demonstrate bi-directional exchange with query/response (QBP/RSP message) capability as well as the submission of VXU messages consistent with CDC's 2.5.1 release 1.5 version of the HL7 Implementation Guide for immunization messaging.

Complete the steps that follow to register for Meaningful Use Stage 3 within Florida SHOTS. You must register for Stage 3 even if you have previously registered for Meaningful Use Stage 1 or Stage 2.

If your practice or organization does not give immunizations, do not apply for a Florida SHOTS account or complete the Florida SHOTS meaningful use registration.

  • Step 1: Log in to your Florida SHOTS account.
  • Step 2: Select “Meaningful Use” from the Florida SHOTS menu.
  • Step 3: Select "Stage 3" from the menu.
  • Step 4: Follow steps 1 through 5 listed on the “Meaningful Use Stage 3 – Registration of Intent” page.
